First = Suffering
Four types of human suffering: birth, old age, illness, death.
Additional four: separation from loved ones, association with people one dislikes, inability to obtain what one desires, clinging to the five aggregates
Basic cause of suffering = clinging
Dukkha = unsatisfactory
Anicca = impermanence
Second = Cause of Suffering
Thirst, clinging
Three types: desire for sensual objects, desire for continued existence, desire for nonexistence
Third = Cessation of Suffering
Nibbana, emancipation
First part = emancipation through understanding (wisdom)
Second = emancipation of mind (all defilements removed, mind freed)
Fourth = Path to Cessation of Suffering
Right View, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Conduct, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, Right Concentration
